Mark will focus on creating ideal conditions and providing proper care for herbs and vegetables grown both in the garden and in containers.  He will also cover a variety of organic gardening products, highlighting their benefits and uses. This is sure to be an informative session for both beginner and more advanced gardeners.

The Presenters

Beginner's Gardening Series

Karl Knopp grew up on a farm in Richfield Twp. among people for whom vegetable gardening was both a pastime and an important supplement to family income. He started gardening in his early teens and started farming in high school. In his twenties he raised strawberries for the pick-your-own market. Since 1992 he has run Ag Access, a wholesale distribution company, with his partner Carol. Ag Access specializes in locally produced plants and other agricultural products and supplies garden centers, farm markets, and grocery stores in Cleveland, Akron and Columbus.

Growing Herbs & Vegetables in Small Places

Mark Langan is co-owner of Mulberry Creek Herb Farm. Before he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from Washington State University, Mark wrote a paper on Organic Greenhouse Production and concluded that it was not feasible. Twenty-five years later with two decades of organic growing under his belt and an infinite number of tools and knowledge available, he has solidly proven himself wrong. His experience has extended to the outdoors with similar organic principles applying to herbs, vegetables, lawn, and ornamentals in large spaces to small container gardens.

Registration for the four-class package is $32, plus applicable fee* when registering online. Separately, each class is $10. If you would rather not register online, you can drop by the store and register at the checkout.
